Whenever I get in my truck to leave, I put it in gear and it bogs just a little maybe down to 500 rpm's. I don't know if this is common for diesels. It sucks when you are trying to idle back a trailer and crank the wheel at the same time. Of course 285's aren't helping that issue either. Any thoughts?
Mine does the same thing. I think that's just the way they work.
One tip on backing a trailer with these trucks is that if the truck is a 4x4, leave the front hubs unlocked, then put the trans in neutral and shift the transfer case into 4 Low. Put the truck back in gear and now you have 2 Low since the hubs aren't locked in. Now if your truck has auto hubs, or it is a 2 wheel drive truck that doesn't help you, but it is nice to have this as an option for backing a heavy load.
