I'm going to clean the throttle body and remove the IAC and clean it in and out. People I talk to say the IAC should have nothing to do with my problem being that the truck drives fine once in Drive and Reverse (no stalling or puttering). They also say the Torque Converter should have no relation to what my problem is because once in Drive, Reverse or stopped at a light, the truck runs fine.
I have no tool to check codes. If I clean the throtle body and IAC and the problem still occurs, I guess I'll have to take it to my local shop to see what they have to say. Really don't want to shell out more $ on this truck being I just purchased it. A guy at my work says it might have something to do with the shifter on the steering colum. Scratching my head on this one?...
I had a similar problem. Re calibrated the shift position to trans link, as per the Ford manual. Re calibrate solved the problem!

A LONG time ago I had a similar issue after I had tranny work done by Ford. I found they only filled up the transmission with about 1/2 the fluid that was needed...my truck would stall when I shifted into reverse.
[QUOTE=GabezF250;11889550]After a nice cleaning of the throtle body and the IAC, the truck still won't shift in Reverse or Drive without completely stalling. Tranny fluid is full, throttle body and IAC or clean as a whistle and still having the same problem.
Question, is there something on the truck that will adjust the rpm's (idle) so that when I do g from Park to Reverse, the truck won't stall out? Any help would be appreciated![my 01 Ex is doing exactly the same thing. I just replaced radiator 3 months ago(sept). I did lose fluid from cooler lines, but i Topped it off ] I'm chasing a vacuum leak, or exhaust restrictions

Customer told me that he had changed number 3 coil per a fault code. And it ran great for a short time. I noticed that the number two coil had been replaced and the number 3 had not.
I know this is old but if you go by the firing order on a Chevy (1-3-5-7) the guy thought he replaced #3 instead of Ford’s 1-2-3-4.

With you question mixed in with the quote it is kind of hard to read but in any case, you would be better off asking your question in the Expedition forum.
Know this is an old post but it was very helpful for me. 1990 F250 w/460 I got for free (well, had to tow it out of the field where it had died years ago). Ignition system replaced, trans fluid, air, AC, etc. Bottom line, got it running decent and things were OK, but had persistent issues of near stall going into reverse at idle when engine was warm. Cleaned IAC and TB which helped, but problem persisted the following year.
Replaced IAC with STD Motor Prod AC-20 (about $35 and <10 minutes), and re-learned (disinfect battery, reconnect. Idle while warm with AC off for 2 min, in gear (my case reverse) with brake on 2 min (could hear the little computer adjusting idle at about 1 min) then in gear/brake w/AC on. This has fixed this problem. Don’t know if this would be helpful.
