74 Ford vacuum Lines
Hey guys,
Long time Ford fan, first time to this forum. So here is the problem I am having. I have a 74 Ford F250 with a 390 motor and an Edelbrock 1406 1221 Carb. What was supposed to be a weekend job of replacing the head gaskets turned into a 3 weekend job due to work and well lets be honest, Life!
anyway I got the gaskets on fine and everythign got put back together. Except when it came down to it I forgot to lable my lines. so now I can not remember for the life of me where my vacuum line from the distributor goes along with a couple lines from the carb. I think I have my fuel line in the right spot. There were a couple of rubber hoses in the back that I'm not sure where they go or if they were even attached.
I have pic to show you guys but not sure how to post them, any help at this point is greatly appreciated. This is the last stage of getting my truck back to running mode again.

There's three ports on the front of the carb...
Passenger side is ported vacuum
Driver side is full-time vacuum i.e. manifold vacuum
Center is used for PCV (if not already connected to a vacuum port on the intake)
Ported vacuum is the "correct" vacuum signal for your distributors vacuum advance.

Ok so I think I got my hoses all hooked up in the right spots now but I can't get the truck to start. I'm getting it to turn over but not catch, it sounds close but not there yet. I am wondering if maybe I got out of timing when I put the distributor back in.
Im still fairly new to mechanicing and didn't mark anything. Now I know to do it in the future. I did place the bug back in the same location this was before I realized that the bug will move so Im thinking its the timing.
Any thoughts or ideas? Also how do I go about setting the timing?

Ok so I got the timing set and she's running again!!! Happy about that but now a new issue, When I put the truck in gear it starts to die out. I have no clue whats going on here.
This truck is kind of a project/daily driver. I got it only to drive it home and a few days later it crapped out. Turns out the carb was crap and a few other issues.
Long story short, now she has a new tranny and brand new gaskets on the heads and manifolds.
