well its almost like being out of the truck, I have all kinds of room with the tranny out, I just know theres a special kit for installing it and it runs 350 to 500 bones, Im not going to pay that for a one time use. it looks straight foward like any other seal..

Bonanza, havent realy had alot of time on the motor yet, after the build it had a virbration and ran rough, so after some diagonistic checks had to pull the motor after 150 miles of run time, had broken ring on #8 & #5 Crank was out of balance, after repairs and back running again rear main seal is leaking thats where Im at now, just pulled trans to replace seal,

I know Ziggie on here had the stage 1 of Matt's and really liked it. He said he got 20mpg. He's a good guy, but I'd kill for that.
Man when it rains it ours, sorry to here about the rings. Any special brand not to use here. Guys have put there rear main seals in without the tool, its just not a common
leak area.

Ok did the rear main seal replacement with no special tools, I did make a seal install tool but it's nothing like the $400 dollar one. Finished the project tonight, no leaks. But don't think it's a easy job, the trans with the transfer case is heavy and is 54" long.

green 69,
I was wondering, did you use a trany jack or just a regular floor jack.
I am doing a trany late this summer and was just wondering!

Thanks

So when you removed the trany/transfer case you dropped them as one unit with the two jacks at one time?
I just happen to have an atv jack as well.

Thanks

Thanks
My plan was to remove the trany/transfer case and then lift up the back of the truck with a loader and pull the trany out.

Yes i have a cheap tranny jack from harbour frieght I had used only floor jacks to get it out but then went out and spent 140.00 for the tranny jack this allowed me to do it by myself, plus i have a lifted truck and needed the extra height even after lowering the truck.
