Alright everyone i think ive got most of the parts i need for my mass air conversion (at least i think). My truck is a 94 f 150 that i recently swapped a 351 into. It is a 5 speed. I pulled an entire engine and under hood harness from a truck my buddy had that was a 302 4r70w. my question is what computer will run my truck best? One out of a mustang? Also if anyone has any idea if the wiring harness for under the hood is the same/ compatable on a manual vs auto truck? They look the same but i only glanced at it. Thanks everyone.

I've attached a couple of documents that might help. I certainly didn't make those up, I got those from places on the interwebs. But you can see that most came from Ford Fuel Injection.com (they have a new name now).
I went through a similar upgrade that you describe. I am using an A9P on a 351W with an E4OD tranny. The only way I can get away with the tranny is I have another computer in between the EEC-IV and the tranny to 'translate' and send the tranny what it needs, but you don't need to worry about that.
You can probably use an A9P or similar in the list. Depending on the final setup, you'll need some sort of calibration for the MASS Air sensor, whether you decided to use a calibration tube or change the transfer function in the computer.
The wiring harness will look the same for an auto or manual for part of the harness, but it probably depends on what auto tranny you are talking about. For my E4OD I have 2 plugs that are part of the harness.

Reason: cuz
A mustang computer for a manual trans is what I'd suggest, it'll maximize performance without any tuning and give you compatablilty with tuners if you decide to build up that 5.8.

well isn't that what I said oh ye of little words?
Alright sweet, I will check prices of mustang computers in the next couple of days. I cant wait to get this thing running great. As always you guys are the best! thanks
Ok so car quest and auto zone have many different computers to choose. I know a9p is a numer on the computer but I need a ford part number to pick one. Anyone have a number?? Ive been busy the last couple days and haven't had alot of time to research. Thanks guys
Not sure what the Ford part number would be but the A9L computer is the manual version of the A9P. '88-'93 mustang 5.0 w/ manual trans is the application.
Ok ive got my truck swapped over, both harneses and an a9l and now my truck misfires pretty bad. what color ignition module shud I be using with this setup? I currently have a grey one. Thanks again guys
ok the truck runs pretty damn good except for at idle. Only complaint is the truck idles a little low and surges between 500-650. Also i am getting codes 22 and 67. How can i get rid of those?
Did you just plug the Mustang computer into the truck harness without any changes? If so you still have some work to do.. sevaral pins in the EEC connector have to be moved. The chart below shows the differences between the Mustang EEC pinout and an SD truck, I put this together some time ago for my conversion but you have a MAF harness so you'll have to do the same for those two and make the necessary changes. These pinouts are availabe from www.oldfuelinjection.com
P.S. I just took a quick look at this and there are even more pins to move with your setup.. about 12 total.
Thanks conanski. I figured out my baro problem, wrong pin. Now that's all working, I only now have code 67 that does not trigger the cel. Its for the neutral sensor on a mustang. Can I get rid of that somehow? Also I reset the computer again and drive about 50 miles, it drives great but still idles low (500) and surges up to 650. I'm lost on three idle problem. What is the best way to reset the factory idle? I haven't touched that idle screw since my 5.0 was in there (I know the screw is not to adjust idle speed btw)
Have you already gone through the wiring harnesses and moved all the wires that are different? Like i said I saw something like 12 that were in different spots and that included almost all the injectors, if those are out of order the engine may run but it'll never produce the power it should and will have idling problems.
