Head Gaskets and ARP Studs

My 6.0 has finally let me down. It's a 2004 with 167000 miles on it. The oil temp was reaching 255 with nothing in tow. Coolant temp around 190-195. I took it to a shop and they are going to do ARP Studs, OEM head gaskets, HPOP, Oil Cooler, Fuel Injectors, Water Pump, send heads to machine shop to get checked, reflash computor with updated version, and belts and hoses. I already deleted EGR Cooler, added coolant filter, turbo cool down timer. Anything else I'm missing please let me know.

Studs

Sounds like you have it covered. Sorry your 6.0 let you down but when you get this work done it should last forever. They really are a good engine.

Are you having the turbo cleaned or replaced. They get sticky when they get a few miles on them.

Do some research on those head gaskets. I've not heard of Diamond. But lots of experienced folks say to stick with OEM gaskets. Maybe you are thinking of Black Onyx? Many complaints about those.

AARP studs? I think I'm one of those!

So you had a clogged oil cooler and they threw a pile of parts at it while it was down? Or were there symptoms of the heads actually being blown? Nothing wrong with modding up a 6.0, just wondering if it was voluntary or if you got sold on it being broke down when the only warning sign was oil temp.

They replaced the actual HPO pump itself? It's odd to replace the pump, but not mention the IPR valve at all. Did all 8 injectors take a crap at once or are you switching them out on a hunch? What's your fuel pressure at? Why the water pump replacement, was the impeller torn up?

I had already changed the oil cooler and an egr delete kit. I am the one wanting the head gaskets and studs. The mechanic just suggested the hpop and ipr valve (forgot to include) He also suggested the fuel injectors since I was spending money to prevent problems down the road. He has suggested the additional parts but in no way did he say I had to have them.

before i found the online forums, what i heard from everyone was this:

OEM head gaskets. don't go near anything else.

the shop who did my engine had a BO motor in for new head gaskets,
after 9 months, when i dropped mine off for rebuild.

From all the reading I've done here it seems that everyone sticks with OEM HG, so when mine came time I too stuck with OEM

Rusty - you read wrong. He said "The oil temp was reaching 255 with nothing in tow. Coolant temp around 190-195. I took it to a shop and they are going to do AARP Studs etc." Don't think he posted the AFTER temps.
