Hey guys, just acquired a new to me 08 F250 6.4 to replace my old 03 With the 6.0, and coming home the last half mile is a steep hill. While going up the hill the engine misfired and there was a pretty good puff of smoke. The truck has a deleted egr with no tunes or tuner. The truck is all stock other than the egr delete as far as I know with 174k miles. Any help or info is greatly appreciated.
I think before you spend money on a tuner you need to find out what you have there. There is a chance the truck is tuned and then the tuner was taken out before it was sold. Is the DPF in place? There was a thread on here a coupe months back from a guy who bought a tuned truck withut the tuner. I don't remember exactly how he resolved the issue but I think he knew what tuner had been on the truck. He probably had to go to the tuner comany and get the same model, if the EGR is blocked without a tuner I think you would have a light on and a code.
You are saying deleted EGR with no tuner. I am pretty sure you would have all kinda codes. Are you sure it's not a DPF delete? This could explain the smike. You need to call the previous owner and question them about it.
