Excessive cranking?

Excessive cranking?
What could be causing my truck to crank for for 4-6 seconds before starting. It starts up fine when engine is warm but when it cools off it cranks excessivley. Truck is an 88 f250 351w.

I have the exact same problem. If I start the truck in the morning when it's cold it starts fine but if I drive it and then let it sit for like 20-30 min it does exactly what your saying. But if it sits longer than thet it will start ok when the engine is totally cooled off. I have been trying to figure out the issue my self for a while. Mine is a 96 with the 351. My buddy who's a mechanic says he thins it's the fuel pressure regulator but I havnt tried it yet
