Help!
I can't locate the thermostat on my 1988 f250. I don't know why I am having trouble with such a simple procedure. The temperature gauge keeps climbing higher than normal, but eventually returns to it's normal reading so I am assuming the thermostat is getting stuck. I bought one, and I've disconnected each of the hoses on the radiator to look for the old one but can't find it. Any suggestions?
Follow the top radiator hose to where it goes into the engine. The hose should be attached to a fitting that's attached to the engine with a couple of bolts. Thermostat should be in there. At least that's where I've always found it.
