600 ft lb Lug Nuts

So while having my FWD solenoid replaced under warranty I had the dealer align the front end as it was off a bit. Went to rotate the tires and neither my 1/2" IR impact or a breaker bar would budge the lug nuts. It took a 3' pipe on the end of a breaker bar to budge them. Who the HELL still cranks lug nuts on like that! That's why they invented torque limiting impact wrenches!

I carry tire repair kits and a compressed air container because a few times a year my job takes me 20-30 miles as the crow flies from the nearest road with no cell service. Man, I would have been screwed as I never would have gotten the wheel off. Thank God they're steel wheels.

I believe 140 ft.lbs. Hope some of yours don't fail soon. That feels perty tight with a breaker bar. I would test em every 50 miles for a while. LOL

150 ft-lbs per my manual. Yeah, could have stretched the lugs too far (beyong 2% elastic deformation) causing premature failure. Might consider replacing them.

Yes, I'm definitely complaining to the dealer about it. Pretty poor service if you can't even train your employees on how to install a wheel correctly with an impact wrench. Last time I ran into this was with an Indy. Brought the vehicle back and made him loosen and re-torque correctly.

When my truck was new it came torqued down from the factory like that. Six or seven nuts were so tight that I needed to use a 3' pipe on a tee lug wrench to get them off. I thought for sure I would break a couple off and did wind up putting a slight twist in the tee handle. It must have been done by the same guy who put on the oil filters.
