85 ranger 2.3 fuel injected misses at high acceleration. Fairly new plugs and wires, just replaced the timing belt, pretty new fuel pump in tank, new fuel pressure regulator and pcv. It idles well, starts up and drives pretty well until you get it in 4th and really bog it down. Could be timing issues but I'm pretty sure I did everything right when I put the belt in. Any ideas what it could be? I know when the tank fuel pump went out, it did something similar for a while...
Yeah both pumps are working, but I know the inline high pressure pump has seen its fair number of years...Its just hard to tell if thats the problem because its intermittent like that. I tried to start the truck when I had the timing belt on wrong and it backfired, just wonder also if that might have something to do with it. Any help would be nice. I've got to drive this thing 50 miles one way to work every day. Thanks!
Yeah mine is under the intake also, and that is where the hissing is coming from, and I just changed the pCV, so what in particular do you think is making the noise?
Any open vacuum port or hose could be the cause. The PCV valve itself may not be the issue, but the hose going to it could be cracked/broken or unhooked.
Even though the plug wires are fairly new, I've received bad ones right out of the box before. You can test them (while the truck's running) by spraying them with a spray bottle, them look to see if you can see them arching out anywhere. Hope this helps you out.
The no. 1 spark plug looks like it was hot. It is white and looks kinda rough to be so recently replaced...not to mention, they were the cheapest ones I could get my hands on. Any recommendations if I get another set? Thanks loads for the help.
