1. Are the seats in a 96 Bronco supposed to lock in the forward position to assist in egress from the rear seats.
2. I am 6'5" and I know (am confident) that there was always more leg room in other Broncos I drove. I am convinced that this Bronco's driver seat is going as far back as it is supposed to.
They do not lock forward. They should release, slide forward and the seat back touch the dashboard or steering wheel as the case may be.
As for the distance they travel, you will either have to get in there with a flashlight and make certain the mechanism is not jammed or pull the seat entirely and inspect the glides. The release is just a pin that pulls aside as you lift the lever under the front of the seat.
Crap, I was sure hoping they locked forward when you released them and slid them. Or rather my wife with the little man was hoping. Thanks for the input..
I have some of them Custom fabricated with some old plastic handles and some screws
Ignore the slightly light pink dots.. It was supposed to add a cool affect but i didn't have white. They do work for the most part and i can put most of my 215 pounds on one side. The passenger side i screwed up on when i drilled the hole so it isn't as tight as i could like but they rarely get used.
Anyways sorry about the hijack My bench seat doesn't lock back so i can pull the back portion of both sides forward without touching the lever.
