Somebody posted that the outside air temperature sensor is on the bottom of the passenger mirror. I don't think it was there on my 08. Some tidbits from service manual...

C650 Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor; (on bottom of passenger mirror).
Ambient temperature sensor (optional — can be serviced separately from the mirror)

When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature and the outside temperature is less than 0° C (32° F), the heated mirrors will be activated. No climate control adjustments are recognized during remote start operation. Once the ignition is cycled to the ON position, the climate control system returns to the previous settings

Assuming we live on a perfect world, can I add the extended power mirrors to my truck

I am assuming as I have the XLT package the mirrors do not have motors so I would need to orders those.

If I were to order them are all the harnesses in place already so I just have to plug and play?

This would also pertain to the drivers door mounted control switch

Is what i am proposing even feasable?

Anything possible if you want to put the time & money into it.

I don't think it's just a matter of adding the motors. You'd be better off ordering the complete unit that power folds and extends. You Probobly won't be able to tie into your existing mirror adjustment stick because your truck didn't come with them, but this will give you the opportunity to install them how you wish. Maybe set them up to open/close with the ignition on/off or something. Just a thought.

Thanks RM

Probably right on the mirror set up - need to check $$$ and scare myself

Second would be the revised switch

Do you think the truck would have the harness to connect to and it just isn't?

Mega Bucks is correct. When they replaced mine under warranty, the said the mirror assembly was 1700 bucks. I don't know if 3-4 grand is worth it, but is is real nice.

Well, This is exactly what i was looking around for; I guess I will just have to put up with the annoyance (slight case of OCD maybe) of them folding at different rates.

For those asking if You can put these on your truck that they didn't come on, The answer is going to be yes, You can, Maybe with a little wiring work; Heck, I have a 2005 and I just put these 2012 mirrors on mine and aside from having to re-make the wiring adapters I had made (First time didn't turn out too good, But functional for the most part) they are on and working. As for price point, I payed 7xx.xx and 8xx.xx/Mirror, IIRC, and that is the "discounted" price you get from Auto Nation White Bear Lake (Tousley), plus the price of the Paint-able/Chrome cap and paint if you go that route; If I'm not mistaken, I believe the list price was around 1200.00/mirror.

P.S. Ohh, Old thread.... sorry for the revive, but Thanks for the info.

Help ! loose mirror heads.

I have a 1999 E-450 and my mirror heads keep going out of adjustment Can any one tell me how to adjust the %$@^& things. or do I need to replace them as I have read others doing on this thread? And if so, what mirrors would be best as these are on an RV with a great 7.3 Power Stroke with very low miles. Thanks in advance. My apologies in advance if I posted incorectly but I have to fix my mirrors so's I can leave.

If you have the power folding mirrors,, check this video from Ford on how to sync them and stop the fluttering of them in the wind...

Newer mirrors

Hi. Looking at the new models, and power fold is a must. We use it daily on our '08 F150. With the current truck, you can power fold them in anytime, key in or out, However, the new ones don't seem to work with key out, at least the new ones on the dealer lot. Has Ford changed that circuit? Or am I missing something?

Ford chat says the ign must be on. Not that I don't believe those manning the chat service, but I'll try it myself next visit to dealer, now that I know how to work the new controls.
