I have an 88 F150 4x4 with 120K. Front rotors, rear drum, all stock. My problem is... I have good brake pedal, all brakes appear to be working, doesn't pull to either side, but the truck just doesn't stop quickly in a 'panic stop'. It seems to take forever, and the wheels won't lock up at all. I've replaced the master cylinder and bled all wheels. Any ideas??

Just an idea- does your truck have the rear anti-lock brakes? If so you probably need to bleed the (what the word I'm looking for) block that works in conjunction with the rabs. This proportions the fluid to the rear brakes. It is located on the drivers side inside frame rail pretty much under the master cylinder. It has a bleeder for this purpose. RSH
Do you have bigger tires on your truck than stock? I had 33's on my '85 Bronco, and the tires seemed to overpower the brakes. Like your truck, it seemed to take forever to stop and no way could I lock up the brakes if the road was dry.
If this is something that just started happening I would agree that you may need to bleed, but if it's like mine was you may want to consider upgrading the brakes. I've seen articles on swapping in rotors and master cylinders from an F350, or maybe installing some rear disc's.
I have stock tires, so I don't think it's a tire size problem. I believe I do have rear anti-lock brakes. I assume the 'block' that was referred to is a proportioning valve of some type. I'll look for it and see if I can bleed it. If I do bleed it there, do I then need to go back and bleed the rear again??
