Just had it rebuilt installed 6 litre trans cooler but the trans gets hot after 40-50 miles of driving never got hot before pulling my 17k 5th wheel now pulling nothing it still gets hot what could it be also had a billet TQ installed
Who rebuilt the trans? Is the tork convertor locking up. If not it will get real hot quick. Did you put in a new 6.0L TC? Its not plugged is it. It shifts good and easy. I've never heard of a trans that ran hot because of a 6.0L TC. Mine runs extremly cool after the install.
Factory gauge means crap. Get a real gauge and figure out what hot is.
FWIW, isn't he already waayyyy into the danger zone if he is getting up into the red on his factory gauge? Unless of course he has gauge failure with his factory.
I agree though, get yourself some gauges to monitor things and so these brilliant minds can give you better feedback.
Are you running any tunes, either custom or off the shelf... or are you all stock?
I have a bully dog tuner that's been on for a few years never had a trans temp problem before trans went out at around 149k had it rebuilt put 6 litre cooler same time trans went in and now can't figure out why the temp goes up after on the frwy 30 miles + could it be the fan clutch
No, on the fan clutch. Some poeple don't run them. Who was your builder of the trans? You need a real gauge is right. Did they take out the old 7.3 cooler as well?
My rig is a 2003 the first time I lost 3&4 had it rebuilt and it lasted about a month it got hot and started slipping trans was rebuilt again and now it gets hot after around a half hour drive on the frwy usually not until I exit the frwy unless I start up a grade on the frwy 149k never had this problem no matter what I was pulling now I don't have to pull anything and it gets hot
The cooler bypass was removed by the rebuilder and the oil looks and smells clean not burned I took it back 2 times to the tranny shop 2nd time they said they put a new solinoid pack whitch has the temp sending unit in it
