Oil filter was $12 and Ford Motorcraft. T6 at wally world was 21.36 and I picked up four gallons. I've got three changes to go using the existing extra gallon. All in, per oil change, i'm looking at appx $84.

1st Oil Change

I'm currently at 5500 miles, and my "smart oil monitor" hasn't signaled for service.

Fortunately, my dealer does the first service for "free", and gave me the oil filter and a certificate when I purchased.

Any ideas when the truck will signal for first service (your experience), and should I just have it done at this mileage? I usually do the first LOF long before recommendation just to get rid of any early contamination.

Thoughts?

Welcome to FTE... I had my oil changed for the first time around 5,500 miles but most seem to wait until the message appears around 7,000+ miles.

Thanks for the info, and for the welcome.

I had my dealer change my oil (free) at 5000 miles just for peace of mind then again at around 12500 when the message alert came on.
