Painting Rims
I am planning on repainting my standard 8 spoke rims on my B2. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this ie, type paint, primer, removal of old paint etc.???? I would like the end result to be a semi- gloss black.

Spend the extra money and have them bead or sand blasted. Then clean them with Wax and Grease Remover and then primer them with a Self Etching Primer. After that you can paint them with anything from Urathane to Acrylic Enamel. It all depends. If you have them ready when you get your car repainted, I would take them in at the same time.

well..i am a painter with 25 years of experience in all aspects of the trade so..i recomend what Mathew up there ^^ says...hopefully the tires are off..get a GOOD self etching primer..when they dry..wet sand them LIGHTLY with a 600 to 800 grit wet sandpaper (duh..LOL) then look for a nice automotive paint that you can shoot through a convetional or Gravity feed gun..i use HOK..( House Of Kolor) let that dry and use a product called EMRON Automotive clear coat..hard as nails when it dries..that way you can use a flat black or semi-gloss paint..and then use a semi-gloss clear coat..Hope that helps..e-mail me if you need more advice..price wise..i'd say...60$ for the whole job..GOOD LUCK!!! POWDER COAT THEM, YES YOU CAN GET GOOD RESULTS BY PAINTING THEM BUT IT WILL ALWAYS BE PRONE TO CHIP, SCRATCH, OXIDIZE, OR JUST NOT TAKE AND RUST. ASK AROUND FOR PRICE DETAILS BUT I WAS QUOTED 25.00$ PER WHEEL. GOOD DEAL
