I've got a high pressure oil issue with a 2004 F550.
Head gaskets done approx 20 miles prior to the truck being shut off and not re-starting.
When I crank the truck i build 479 psi max at an 84% IPR duty cycle.
I thought it could have been a plugged up IPR but when I pulled it out today it looked relatively clean. The screen did not come out with it so I removed the pump cover to get a better look at the hole the IPR goes in.
The specks here are what I got out of the IPR.
What the screen looked like
First pump cover I've removed so just going to put up a picture to verify that things look ok.
So do you guys think that was enough crap to plug up the IPR?
The more I tear into this engine the more I suspect a high pressure oil leak. Any ideas on where to start looking for a diagnosis? I've heard to pressurize the oil system via the ICP sensor hole but I'm not entirely sure what the best way to go about that would be.
I already do have a thread for this somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it. Fluids are all recent and in spec. OEM oil filter with OEM cap.
Check to make sure that the plug is in the hpop before you put everything back together. It is on the drivers side of the hpop right in between and under the two mounting bolts. It should be a ball bearing pinned in the side of the pump, who came up with that idea I have no clue but it sure wasn't a bright idea.
