Here's my solution until I find a dealer that will lower the thresholds. When unloaded I like to run less pressure in the rear tires than the front tires so I trained the system to think the rear tires are in the front and the fronts in the rear. I set my tires at 80% (I think 75% is the threshold) of max pressure and after a few weeks the TPMS tripped. I aired them up to 85% and all is good. That puts me at 68psi in the front and 55psi in the rear tires. I would like to run lower but this helps a little.

My dealer did it, no problems. Even filed it under "warranty repair"
I went in and played a little dumb. Told him that ever since i put the new wheels and tires on the sensor wont go off. I tried the reset procedure, but it keeps coming back. he reset the sensors, and I said, wont they just come back on since my tires are lower? he said probably, so I asked if he could just lower the pressure so I would not have to come back every week.
Not a problem. asked what pressure I wanted hooked it up to the computer, filed it under my warranty, and I headed out. I should have given him $20 or so to buy lunch, but didnt have any cash on me.

I too have been unable to find a dealer willing to lower the setting.

I bought an SCR tuner and you can do it easily that way. HOWEVER, then you get to contend with the CEL light staying on and throwing a "Non OEM setting" code!

Does the Black Maxx also cause CEL issues?

Thanks for the help.

Just had mine lowered to 55lbs. by my dealer. On previous visits they said thier software would not let them legally reduce the threshold. My service advisor said since their latest software update from Ford they were able to do it now. Cost me $55.

Thats good to hear 7.399, since the TREAD act that mandated the TPMS only applies to vehicles with a GVWR of less than 10k.
Every dealer I talked to thought I was trying to pull a fast one. I had to go to 4 dealers and finally talked to the tech while my truck was hooked up. Just brought it up in conversation that I would like to lower the threshold and his response was "do you know how?" I gave him the exact steps necessary that had been posted on this forum and viola...reset to 50#. Tech actually thanked me for showing him how.

Black Maxx is muy $$ though. Is SCT less money?

If I keep the tires at the placard setting of 65/80 and don't run a full load eventually the rear will wear in the middle from overinflation. This isn't good. Overinflated runs the risk of blowout too, nearly as bad as underinflated.

Dang it! I have asked on hear if anybody new the steps necessary to do it and nobody new how. I searched and couldn't find it either.

My technician said he would do it if he knew how. He said he looked and couldn't find it, but he didn't have time to keep looking. He said if I find out just bring it back and he would do it for me without getting it written up.

Please help if you knew what thread it was in.
