So, Last week i managed to change my stock sticking injectors with a set of 155cc RCD injectors along with new fuel filters and a cleaning of everything i could clean. overall the install went smoothly other than those pesky passenger side bolts that you can barely get to. I also have a set of ARP head studs that i didn't have time to tackle nor the upgraded head gaskets i want. So after getting them installed, She sputtered a bit but crank right up. Idle was abnormally high(750-100rpm) but i contributed this to relearn? Alright Well i let checked the codes after she cleared up. She threw a P0269, P0278, P0098, and P1000(cleared before startup). the contribution codes i figured were due to air in the lines, so i brushed those off as no big deal. I reset the codes a fired her right back up, after warm and being put into drive and back into park the idle dropped to the normal 650rpm range, but with some roughness. I decided to drive her to walmart for some lucas fuel additive and cetane boost. Drove fine except at idle was a little rough, Once in the parking lot i noticed that at idle my oil pressure was dropping off so i shut it down immediately. after adding my additives along with some Z-max in the oil it and checking the levels, started right up as before with the absence of the oil pressure issue. I headed home and had once hiccup so i stopped to check the codes, only two were P0269 and P1000. I reset the codes and attempted to restart with an epic FAIL. she wouldn't start. So, i am planning on a cab off with a complete tear down, stud and gasket, along with EGR upgrade, Injector re seal and blue spring. I am thinking it might be STC or front seal in the HPOP from what i have read thats causing the issue. I would like to hear your opinions on what else it could be and what else i should do while i tackle everything.
More info please. Is this a 7.3? Did you blow a fuse on the restart. I also changed my injectors and had some roughtness until it cleared up. No problems starting.
2003 6.0 w/ Magnaflow Turbo-Back, SCT tuner, no major mods, 155cc RCD injectors. I don't believe i blew any fuses but i haven't checked that. It was dark when i had the starting problem so i went out yesterday and charged the batteries enough to turn it over good. No oil pressure was reading on the IC. Maybe it's just the front seal? How problematic are HPOP's and do they go out at the drop of a hat?
SuperVossen, I've moved your thread to the 6.0L Powerstroke Diesel forum. The guys here should be able to help you out and get you additional information.
BTW, I checked LPOP by watching the filter housing while cranking, I checked ICP by simply unplugging it, The injectors are cycling normally during KOEO process, Injectors are NOT firing during crank cycle. From my understanding of all threads and sticky's i have read this means a few things, HPOP failure, IPR failure, or leak in Standpipe or HPOR fitting or dummy plug. Am i missing anything so far?
Ps, I also checked all connectors and for wire chaffing, none to note. However i did find a plug end near my fuel pump that looks like it has been disconnected for some time. Had dirt caked up inside the connector, the fuel pump is fine i checked to see if i were getting fuel in the secondary housing, CHECK. So i have no idea what the connector is for or if it is just a dummy connector for something
Early trucks had a heater in the HFCM. Ford dropped it but the connector is still there.
Well, My build date is 01/03.. So the truck would obviously still run if the heater was unplugged or, Possibly a previous owner installed a new FP without the heater? I would just go check but i am at work.
Not sure about build dates. Just seen this question lots of times n passing on info. My '06 has that connector also. Seems like they could have dropped it by then.
Spool Valves were shot... it would buck and run like **** the first couple of miles until you got the injectors hot... then it would haul ***... no problems other than that and a sticking thermostat. But i fixed both issues. I remember once i was going down a really rough wavy and rough road hauling *** with a bunch of sharp turns and my oil pressure dropped off if i let it idle when i got home for about two minutes.. this was months ago and hasn't done that again until now i don't have any pressure to the injectors.
