Automatic Slow Engaging into Gear

Lately when I go from park to drive or drive to reverse or reverse to drive it is a little longer than normal engaging into gear. Now we aren't talking minutes but like 3 seconds. The rebuild is about 4500 miles old. Is this something that could be normal or maybe a sign the filter is getting plugged? After in gear, it shifts and drives great!

If the filter is getting plugged it means the trans is totally trashed. Also, if the filter is plugging it won't shift and drive great.

3 seconds is on the high end of normal.

Ok so what are we looking fOr as the culprit, weak pump?

I'm interested in Marks response as well -- my trans seems slow to engage into R. Everything else is fine.

Weak pump, leaky seals, nothing major. Two seconds is normal for this trans, so drawing the engagement all the way out to three seconds is only a one second difference. That's not much.

Slow engagements into reverse is a trademark of this transmission.

Ok well that makes me feel a little better. Cooler weather must be a normally longer cause she was slightly longer with it being 35 degrees this morning.
