Hey all. Popping in from the Slicks forum to ask a question for my Uncle. He just found, bought and had his Grandfather's old 55 f600 restored, but is missing the hood ornament. What was it? A swan? Jet? Something else? Does anyone have a link or a picture? Does anyone have one to sell?
As far as I know, any ornamentation on the hood other than the standard crest emblem in front is an after-assembly (ie: not factory) add on, either by a dealer or subsequent owner.
But mostly what I am finding is the 6 cylinder lightning strike emblem like what this one has on the front of the hood. I think the same as all Ford trucks of that era. I think three is what I have seen. A diesel one and the 6 and 8 cylinder ones. I don't think Ford put one on the top like is in the pic here.
Yeah, both the gear/bolt badge and the V8 are there, but there are holes drilled in the centerline of the hood just above the gear/bolt badge. I also did a google search, and came up with the same idea and images y'all have, wanted to be sure.
