Ok I have a 84 f-150 with a 302. Latley it seems as if I might be buring oil. I have to add oil all the time. Now Ive looked everywhere on the truck and have found no leaks. The valve covers, oil pan, everything look fine. So I was wonder what kinda of a seal problem I might be having? Will I have to rebuilt the whole thing to stop it? By the way The engine is origanal and has only 60,000 miles on it. Im just getting sick of adding oil every week.
If you're actually burning oil, your spark plugs will show it. Pull them all & see. The Haynes manual shows how to read them. Another useful test (while you have all the plugs out) is a compression test. Use a threaded compression tester (not the press-in cheaPOS ) and block the throttle open for the whole test.
A truck that old, with that low miles, must have been sitting around for some time. If you do find some of the plugs fouled, the rings may be stuck in those particular cylinders. You might be able to spray some penetrating fluid down the spark plug holes of those cylinders to try to free up the rings.
