Help with 4x4 hubs
My truck is a 2006 f250SD diesel 4x4 with oem auto locking hubs. This past winter I had a problem with the hubs locking. I took one hub out this spring for greasing and it turns out the plastic was breaking apart.
So i would like to change them to a manual hub. I was wondering what people were having luck with (warn, milemarker, etc..) and what kind of axle is in the front. When I look on the manufacture sites they all say Dana 44, but ford says 60. Under gowarn.com it gives two choices for Dana 60, either 35 spline or reverse 35 spline. Any body know what the reverse means?
Thanks for any help. I really appreciate it.
Happy truckin'

Tom
You may have a Dana 50 or the Dana 60 front axle, I'm not sure where the cutoff was. I installed Warn Hubs on the Dana 50 in my 05 Excursion. They are manual hubs, so when you install them be sure to put plugs in the vacuum line that connected to operate the hubs and a cap over the place where that line connected to. That way you don't lose vacuum and keep dirt/debris out.
I had a similar situation where I had a hub not functioning, so replaced them with a full manual hub. I don't regret it. I'll do this to my 07 F350 when the hubs start to give me problems.

There are some online Ford dealers such as Tousley Ford that may have better prices.
You were able to put aftermarket hubs on the Excursion because Ford did not update the Excursion front axle in 05 like they did the trucks.
