What should I pay

Ok guys what should I pay for a regular 460/429?
And what should I pay for a 460/429 SCJ?

Then after I get one I'd like a good bit of power will be a more or less fun truck won't be driven everyday but want to still be able to drive it to work or camping fishing that kinda thing.

That's such a loaded question. Finding a CJ your going to pay whatever the seller wants. As to a regular 429/460 I have never paid over 100 for a core and $250 for a running engine. Last couple I bought I paid $125 for a running engine and $50 for a core engine torn down and that included a C6 trans and a NP205 tcase.

getting to 500hp is easier said then done so don't think it's going to be cheap (it actually can be done fairly easy but not for $1000 or less like many want to)

Yes 500hp is streetable but even 400 is more then most guys have ever driven. Stroke it, and mild build with either ported factory heads (especially on strokers I prefer D3VE heads as easier to keep in pump gas compression range) or a set of something like TFS streets or for a little more Kaase P51 heads. Fords 514 stroker using the predecessor the Kaase heads and actually designed by him makes a honest pump gas 612hp.

This will give you a rough idea of what you need to do to get into the 400+ hp club:
