My computer with Ie8 wouln't let me view the ford forums and a few other ones as well. I finally found out why. I had to go into control panel and change some stuff. All I could see was the header and an ad before. So unless I wanted to go to FF I couldn't get on...
The solution to that is simple, don't use IE anything. Its a lame browser that does not comply with HTML standards. It is also the front door for a lot of spyware, viruses, adware, etc. In other words, IE has a lot of security loopholes that allow people who wish to distribute that kind of stuff to do so without your knowing.
I don't care which you use, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Seamonkey, Opera, etc. All of them are better and more secure than IE and most of them view web pages truer to the way they were meant to be seen.
I use FF -- because there's an active group that ports the updates to OS/2 regularly. But anything is better than IE/Bing.
I'm living in a hotel for another week, and at hotels you often have to log in to their system and agree to something before they allow access outside. If I fired up FF, FF would try to load the 40 tabs on startup, and it would screw up all the tabs, so I use IE to just log in, then kill it off. It's useful for that, if nothing else.
MS's "Embrace & Extend" BS is on full display in IE.
