The power steering brackets are all the same on those engines 351M/400/460 (360/390 is different)...Doesn't matter if you have A/C or not...it's all in the spacers and such...if yours isn't lining up..then it's probably bent or been modified at some point.

I had the same thoughts when i was trying to get it to fit, but looking at it doesn't show any signs of being tampered with.

I wonder if the bracket you have is from a truck with a 302 or something? What is the 4th digit on your vin and the year of the truck?

It's a 79 and the fourth letter is a H.

Yeah, they put a 400 in it according the po.
The valve cover says 400, so I'm assuming 400.
If you look closer at the pic of my bracket you will see its different than all the brackets this thread has discussed already.

I think it belongs to something else....otherwise it would line up with the waterpump without a problem....some of them are known to crack when not bolted down properly....probably the case with your original one....and PO used what they could find....hit the self pull yard and grab one...doesn't matter if it's 2wd or 4x4...they are the same.

Finally made a long over due trip to the local yard.
I found this bracket off of a bronco.
Totally different brackets, the top one is the one that was on the truck.

Bolt holes for the water pump are different to.

Here it is all mounted up, now i feel much better my belt has the proper alignment.

I'm thinking that other power steering pump bracket was for a 302/351W or 300 inline 6

Yeah the old bracket actually broke last time i was messing with it.
My pistol is a Springfield XDM 9mm, i carry it just about everywhere i go.
Its a pain to carry while working on vehicles.
