Possible Highboy-Need I.D. help

Hey everyone,

I have a friend with a '73 F-250 that he is planning on selling. Before he does he needs to find out if it's a Highboy. It has the divorced transfer case and a four speed. The gas tank is behind the seat. What else do I need to look for? If the VIN# will help it's F26YRQ82957.

Thanks

Correct me if im wrong in any of this info -

From the Vin you gave us, there is only so much information that can be told, you will want to get ALL of the information off of its door tag, but here is what you have so far (like I said, correct me if im wrong, its late)

F26YRQ82957

F26 - F250 - 4WD
Y - 360 - V8
R - Assembled in San Jose
Q82957 - Consecutive build # - (in 1973, these were between Q00,001 - S60,000)

So your question, yes, it is a high boy.

If you want info on the transfer case, transmission, axle ratio, ect., just get the rest of the information, which should be on the door tag, and post it in here, and if I dont reply to it, somebody else will.

Hope this helps!

-Daniel

Door tag info:
WB 133
Color T
Model F262
Body 434
Trans A
Axle B4P
DSO 741313

Thanks again for the info, this is an AZ truck, amazingly straight and rust free. He just needs to get rid of some of his rolling stock.
Feel free to PM me.

Okay, once again, here I go, some of this may be wrong, but I'll give it my best shot -

WB - Wheel base - 133" so thats about 11 feet?

Color T - This is your paint code, I dont know what I did with my sheet of those, so- cant help ya, shouldnt be too vital anyway.

Model F262 - This is the Model code, in your case its an F-250 4x4 with 7,700 G.V.W.

Body 434 - This is your trim code, I had this on the same sheet as the paint codes, so yeah. Im not for sure, it should say on the truck if it hasn't been tampered with too much.

Trans A - This is your Transmission, in your case its the NP435 4-Speed

Axle B4P - Axle codes, if I am reading correctly, it would be Dana 60 LS with 4.10 in the rear, and for the front - I dont know... I dont have B on my sheet, so...

DSO 741313 - This I really dont know about - My bronco was just 2 numbers, so I dont know what to make of yours. Somebody else on the board will be able to help you im sure.

Good luck!

-Daniel
