have a 90 ranger with a 2.3 want to install a tach what wire do i hook to

Use your Haynes and find the wire that the factory tach was supposed to be installed to. You can't take it off the ground on the coil on the 4 banger because each coil only puts out half a signal, so your tach would only read from 0-3000 RPM even though the engine was running 0-6000 RPM.

tried to find a Haynes book in this town-- not one to be found-- ordered on but 2 to 3 wks delevery, anyone help on what wire to hook the tach to
