I placed a tranny temp sender on the trans line going into the radiator. Group of brass fittings including a "T". Temp runs 180 to 210 depending on speed and trailer. In a 85 F350 CC Duallie 460. Used a Auto Meter gauge off e_Bay along with 5 others. Now I know when I'm going down.
Wally2117, I highly recommend the Autometer guages, but I would go to www.Jegs.com or www.summitracing.com and buy new guages, check out an after market transmission cooler while you are there. Nothing will kill your transmission faster than overheating, anything over 200 degrees will shorten its life dramatically. If you are towing do not use overdrive! Good luck.
I did basically the same as Taynton in my Bronco. Use a pair of brass t"s to mount senders for trans temp and pressure. Both are standard engine water temp and oil pressure gauges. Been working well now for over 65k miles. I might of went a bit crazy when I replumbed the lines also, but hey, why not!
