I'll be moving from N. California to Texas (Dallas) in a couple of months. My Explorer is registered in CA and I will be taking it with me (All expenses paid by company so no worry there :-) ).
I know that they have safety inspections in TX. Can anyone give me a rough idea what to expect ?
Does anyone see any problems with taking the truck to TX and registering it there ?
After living in calf, you will find our inspection test a brease to pass. There are no emittions test, and it is a real simple to pass as long as your car is in woking order.
Here is a link to a state site that details the inspection process and the items checked for any class of vehicle you can imagine. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/rerf/obd_faq.htm
If you know the zip code of where you will be relocating to, you can see if a smog emissions test is required in that area also.
One thing other posters left out was to mention that you must show proof of liability insurance to get a state inspection or license plates.
And by the way, welcome to Texas
