Hey Andywk, I don't know much about YOUR truck. However, I'm wondering about the PRIMARY coil resistance. Do you actually have the specs in your possession?? Is 0.9 ohms correct?? That sounds very low to me, but things may have changed alot over a decade. Mine (1985) has a primary coil resistance of over 3 ohms. (I can't remember what the secondary resistance is supposed to be). If the primary resistance is TOO LOW, it will draw too much current through the module, and eventually burn out the module. Don't take my word for it, just suggesting you double-check. GOOD LUCK!
I don't have specs in my possession and the manual says that Ford does not specify a resistance for the primary but it says that it should be less than 5.0 ohms. Thats really all I have to go by. The manual does give specs for secondary. 13-15 k ohms.
Does anybody have any info on the resistance for the primary coil on a 1994 2.3l ranger?
I havn't got into the ignition module yet. It is just where I was going to start looking next. I have just pulled off the wiring connections and cleaned them off but havn't done much else yet.(It is pretty wet outside here today). Does this sound like a good place to go next if everything else checks out?
Finally got around to thouroughly testing out the wires and determined they were good. I was getting the spout signal all the way to the EDIS module. I picked a new module up from Autozone today and installed it. No more problem!! I am glad of that.
