2002 F250 V8 gas to diesel conversion
Maybe this would be a discusion for the deisel forum, but, are the trannys the same for the PD and the V10/V8s? It would be kind of nice to know the differences. Do they bolt up, how about the Xfer, driveline, etc.? Sorry to asnwer your question with a question, but again these would be nice facts to know.

i think that you would be way far ahead of the game to trade into a deisel then to convert into one. if you count yer time worth anything, ill bet that you will end up with twice as much money into it then what it would have cost to trade up and the truck will be worth less then yer current truck is right now.

No, they are very different. While all three use the 4R100 transmission, there are different models for each engine.
The V10 and V8 use the same case, but the V10 has more plates in the clutches.
The diesel has a different case because the rear face of block is different. A transmission from a gas engine won't bolt to a diesel. Also, the internals for a diesel are quite a bit different to stand up to the higher torque of the diesel.

You are looking at a good time. If you just want a diesel, and don't want the latest and greatest, IE the 6.0psd, then I bet you'll beable to find a sweat deal on a 2002 or even a 2003 with the 7.3psd cheep, plus, the 7.3 has a 1,500 rebate. The trick will be finding a dealer that will actually give you some money for your 2002.
Good luck with everything.
