87 f150

Hey guys my 87 f150 4.9L quit om me going down the highway this am. And now it won't start. I've replaced the ignition control module. Didn't help, battery is dead because of all the times I've tried starting it. It cranks and almost turns on but doesn't. About to check for spark right now, but any other suggestions?

Well heres a guess
Batteries dead alternator bad or
Maybe the fuel pump is out or the power wire splice to the fuel pump is bad.
Locate the left hand fender pump relay-- if the relay works and had power disconeect neg on batt then--------

Trace the yellow wire from the relay into the wiring harness. Then locate the splice and check and make sure its in good condition.

How about maybe it has jumped time. Pull the cap off the dizzy and check it out. If it almost want's to run that would be what I think.

I thought of that but from his discription or lack of I did not think that was it. could be though

Sorry guys. So I'm towing it home now gonna leave the battery on the charger tonight and will check fuel pump, dizzy, and spark.

Pull the dizzy cap. Put a socket wrench on the front of the crank and with the coil wire off and grounded rock the crank back and forth. If ya can move it much at all without the rotor cap moving than your timing chain is worn and may have jumped a tooth. Than Line up the timing marks and see if the rotor in the dizzy is still pointing to number one.
