Can anyone tell me what comes for rear gears in a 1996 F-150 with a 5.0 liter and automatic trans ?? What kind of gas mileage can I expect with this set up ? City driving,, and highway at about 75 mph ??
Look at the tag on the rearend. It's a small tag bolted under one of the bolts that holds the cover on. The tag should have some numbers on it that tell you it's gear ratio and whether or not it has a trac-lok installed. Mine has this on it "3 55" 3 55 is the gear ratio, if it had a locker in it it would be like this "3L55"
Just a small correction here, no lockers were ever put in F-150s. They are not put in any stock vehicle. The item they use is called Limited Slip. Ford's name for it is Traction Lok. Chevy guys call it Posi-traction, or posi for short (positive traction).
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Thats it for now, saving for a stang. Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
