I was hit a couple of weeks ago, left front corner/tire area. Folded the bumper around, twisted the pitman arm shaft, maybe the drag link.
Anyway, when I moved forward 10 ft or so brake pedal was soft. Stopped, but not what it was before. It was hit near the abs modulator, but no leaks and no light coming on. It will get checked more when steering box gets put on and alignment checked.
Has anybody heard of the master cyl bypassing after a hit? If brakes are pushed quick and hard feels ok, but then gets soft with light pressure.
We will be leaving on a trip with trailer right after it gets out of shop, so I want to start lining up repair now.
Thoughts? This is a diesel, hydro boost.
During an accident event we've recorded people appling more then 250lbs of pressure on the brake pedal. That's gets you deep into the master cylinder. If you braked hard during the accident it's possibly the M/C cups got pushed into the less travel area in the M/C bore where the cups could have gotten damaged.
