HELP Camshaft firing order confusion
I've installed a replacement crate engine for my 1994 5.0 L Truck. Here is the problem. I had to replace the new engine's camshaft due to it being a HO mustang engine. It must meet very strict emissions in California and Ventura County. I used a CS 1533 by Sealed Power.
My problem has been I had to rush assembly and while I'm confident I've installed the cam correctly and verified the distributor is installed correctly. I've had a problem with the engine not running correctly. Very rough idle and no acceleration. Stalls.
I had to rush the install due to scheduled back surgery. Now that I've had the surgery I am limited to how much work I can do on the truck. So I have to try and eliminate as much of the issues prior to trying to physically work on the truck.
Here is one of my concerns and I'm wondering if anybody else has come across this issue. The Factory manual for the 1994 F-150 shows the 5.0 L
Firing Order: 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 (old style)
The truck label on the truck shows Firing Order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 (new style)
I believe sometime during the 94-95 model year they went from the old firing order, 1-5 etc. to the new one 1-3 etc.
I've written Federal-Mogul to try and verify which firing order the CS 1533 used.
I,m trying to avoid having to physically confirm it by pulling plugs and checking firing order using compressed air, etc.
I know I could just put the plug wires to the old firing order, but can't risk a back fire as I have a supercharger on the engine.
I'm kicking myself for not doing it as I assembled the engine, but I just was up against a time crunch and now have to deal with the present.
Any ideas or experience with the confusion?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
