Wait a minute. GVWR is related but is not the towing ability of a vehicle. If he were putting a slide in camper on this truck i would agree. But if he is towing a small camper trailer, it should be able to handle a small one that has it's own brake system on the trailer. That is, if he has a decent gear in the rearend.
Remember in the old days they towed campers with station wagons and large sedans. All you need is a load distribution hitch and the power to pull it. I would think he could tow a 16 or 18ft small camper with the right equipment.
Right...but that 2.75 gear isn't going to do him much good for towing.

Yep. Even now German cars are available (though it's no longer a manual switch ) have program to cancel the 2nd gear start under a delay in takeoff. Done because of the popularity of hauling a camper on 'holiday' in Europe. That and the option to get stripped down models. 4cyl diesel benz, cloth interior, 5 speed, 2 speed rear end, manual everything. Indestructible.
My 81 F100, 4700 GVWR, 10" brakes bumper pulls a 2200lbs camper fine. It does have a 1990 roller 302 in it though with c6 and 3.25 gears. Tows / stops just fine, even without trailer brakes on the camper.
I'm not really sure how much better the 11" brakes are vs the 10" brakes...
Front:
Piston dia- 2 5/8" vs 2 7/8"
Rotor dia- 11.03" vs 11.72"
And if anyone knows of a better way to get pics in a post, I'm all ears.
Close, thanks for trying! You're getting there....
Right now, you have an html web page surrounded by IMG tags.
That won't work.
Get into your Album, find the picture.... down below it are two lines you can copy & paste; you want to C & P the stuff in the BB Code box. Don't surround it with IMG tags, they're already provided.
The book gives a general example of what to look for (where to find the axle tags) but is certainly not the be-all-end-all for this kind of thing. Especially since some of these illustrations were made in the 1960s.
He's got a picture of a tag, it's just that some of it is obscured by the bolt.
I would guess WDR but I'm pulling that from a dark place
