2006 f150 condenser help

Hi everyone I have a 2006 f150 that got hit by a deer and put a quarter inch hole in the ac condenser. So all the freon leaked out and I would like to know if anything else should be replaced at the same time like the filter or dryer? also do I have to worry about water getting in it?

I would recomend putting an accumulator on it, think of it like an oil filter that's been run for 6 years already. Plus, once it was opend to air it started soaking up moisture. At this point it's cheap insurance. Other than that just vacum the system down for at least a half hour and you should be good. You may need a couple ounces of oil but that's about it other than refrigerant.

Thank you for the help I don't have a say about how long the ac tech will vacuum but I'll put a new accumulator on for sure.

An accumulator simply protects the compressor from liquid feed on the low pressure line. Any possible liquid in the vapor line sinks to the bottom of the accumulator by weight alone.

Any time the refrigerant lines are open to atmosphere for periods of time it is best to replace the filter driers, especially when driving forward with a deer in your grill. Dirt will get into the lines, filters simply catch it. Best to also perform nitrogen evacuation to clean the system first.

Nitrogen has a lower dew point than air, cleans and removes any and all moisture from the system. Moisture kills compressors.

I take that back. Moisture mixes with the oil in the refrigerant and produces an acid which in turns eats away the windings of the compressor.

All oils have an ability to attracts moisture, are hygroscopic.
