I have had my '62 f100 for about 8 years, and i have still not registered it, from what I understand they need to verify that my truck body matches the frame. I have no idea even where to begin looking for the VIN stamp on the frame. Does anyone have know where it might be?
Check the top of the passanger frame rail in two places. One should be stamped in under the cab and the other is somewhere between the cab and the core or radiator support. The one closer to the front is probably closer to the front of the frame rail probably between core support and the shock support tower.
The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) registers the entire vehicle, will be printed on the registration/title. It's also stamped on the Warranty Plate, which is located on the inside of the glovebox door 1961/62.
The hidden VIN's location is stamped on the top of the right (passenger) side frame rail, either in front of, or partially under the cab.
By now, the hidden VIN may be difficult to locate due to rust and road grime.

Are you saying you only know of 5 trucks unofficially built in Norforlk, Va in model year 1962, or are you saying I have 1 of 5 Stepside unofficially built out of Norfolk for 1962 model year? Could you please tell me where I might find the official number of trucks built in Norfolk in model year 1962.
The list that I started two years ago has five trucks on it built in year 62. They built thousands in Norfolk that year, just only have these so far. 61-63 was the years that the unibody (integral) were built so many were gotten rid off because of the overloading problems. Of the five trucks, three were Unibody, two others where like yours, have one F350 that was flat bed.
wow Rob, I really appreciate the information. Yeah, I also heard of problems with the unibody flexing and causing the doors to open sometimes. Of course back then they didn't have seatbelts in the trucks so the driver or passenger would sometimes fall out of the truck. That is one reason I was happy to find this stepside.
