Cool morning diesel stalls

I have a 1997 F350 powerstroke. It will die 2-3 times after initial start up on a cool morning. If I plug it in it will die 0-1 times. Once the dying period is over, it will run all day with no trouble. I just replaced a bad injector module and I had hoped that might fix the problem. I also changed the fuel filter along with all fluids as this is a new to me truck. I am calling 40-50 degree mornings cool. If it is in the 60's, no problems. Any ideas?

It's older dont know the mileage is, but it's probably getting up there. So the compression is for sure gonna be lower than brand new. Diesel don't like to run or start with low compression, they just dont work. Also diesel's especially older ones are low on power before they warm up. In the morning after you start it dont try and drive off right away. Either sit in the truck and after about two minutes bring the revs up to 1000rpm for about two minutes. Or use a window scraper and your seat to push on the throttle to have the same effect. Does it smoke blue or white on start up and while still cold?

Also forgot to ask. Next time you run the truck pull your oil fill cap off and feel for any blow by. It would just be another sign the motor is getting tired

your best bet for an answer is to ask down in the 94-97 powerstroke forum.

It has 206k, starts just fine but doesn't stay running until I start it 2-3 times. If I idle it dies, if I hold the rpm's up it still dies. I have tried several different combinations to try and have something to diagnose. There is no smoke on start up. Other than the morning issues it runs great all day. This is really strange. Thanks for the help

Thanks, I just posted there. I am new to the site so I didn't even know that forum existed.
