ok im pretty sure my engine is finally blown up. it is a major pain to start and takes forever. and once it finally starts it doesnt run verry good. it idels fine after it is warmed up. but when you put your foot in it it is really doggy and seams like it is starving for fuel or somthing. i have no clue what is goin on.
fule filter is like 3 days old, i thought that was the orignal problem, yes the fuel filter was black when i took it out. has about 270,000 miles but valve cover says reman so who knows the actual millage on the engine. and yes the check engine light comes on in the process of starting it some times but then goes off. and as far as injector work i have never done anything with them i think 4 of them were remans when i was in there doing glow plugs. also cleaned the fpr screens today didnt help. yes it smokes white and blue. with my chip on stock and i put it to the floor it only gets up to about 11 or 12 hundred rpms, if i hold the trottle down it takes about 30 seconds for it to climb above 11 or 12 hundred rpms. with my chip all the way up it raps out just fine. also it back fires and shoots a flame out the exhaust right now, cps is about a month old
Was your CPS from the dealer or parts store? I recently found out first hand that generic CPS's are as bad if not worse than described on this forum. I bought a BWD from Advance Auto and it went bad in 50 miles. It is beyone recommended, it is absolutely crucial to use an OEM CPS in there motors. I replaced my injectors, glow plugs, GPR and CPS all at the same time. I was on my second ride to work the air out of the injection system and had to limp it home. To me, it kinda sounded like really bad spark knock and I couldn't get over about 1100 rpms under load.
The other thing that makes me think it is the CPS is that when mine went bad, the miss/hiccup started at the exact same RPM's (around 1700) for a while, when revving under no load in park. Then it just finally pretty much gave up all the way. But it sounds quite similar to your issue.
I can deffinitely say that there are 2 distinct times when I thought I had an enormous issue and was going to have to scrap my truck. The fires was when an injector went bad. That sounds like a rod is coming through the block. The other was when a stupid $25 CPS went bad. If you can, check the codes, that will tell you a lot. Good luck and don't give up!
