the rear swpings are flipped and the front is monoleaf and drop axle. All very easy to do.
I will warn you about a problem I never expected and encounter often (if not careful) and that is.... when you run disc brakes and a drop axle, watch caliper position. In my case, the knuckle on my axle hits my caliper at full lock. The result is NO BRAKES for a sec (a couple pumps and they are back) but it sucks if not paying attention. What happens is, at full lock, the caliper is pushed away from the disk (hard to understand but makes sense if you physically see it (or experience it). The solution.... don't go full lock to lock or in my case, I am going to weld in steering stops.
Not a big deal, but something to be aware of depending the disc setup you run.
It looks lower than it is. With a 15 rear/14 front wheel setup and it being this low, I don't ever scrape, even when going into driveways, parking lots, etc. and I don't normally go slow.... I am not a cautious driver I am even able to pull onto a standard car trailer without scraping.... close yes, but no scrape (I know because I rented a UHaul trailer when I bought it to bring it home)
What size tires are you running on yours. What is the largest you can run without having trouble with clearance.
Hopefully mine will look as nice as yours and be able to enjoy it in the near future?? I have a 302 that I got with the truck and I am wanting to pair it with an auto. I have a 9" rearend. What disc brake conversion did you use or did you salvage and rebuild the system?
I doing know as I bought this as a basket case. Everything so far is stock hight. I an looking to put the 3"drop springs on to lower it a little but that will be all I will lower it. I guess I need to get it back together before I start looking at tires.
