hello everyone
.....I have a 1977 dent with 460 and auto C-6.The problem i'm having with the trans. is that if the fluid gets to below the add mark, the trans. leaks (i would assume from the shaft seal ?),then it drips off the bellhousing and to the ground,( pan bolts are tight, and pan shows no signs of leaking ) then when i top it up to full, it stops leaking ! .....what's going on here ? ....anyone else had this happen,or can anyone explain ? (vehicle is level all the time when parked ) .....is my tuck possesed,or just likes playing games with me ? ....good thing i love it so much.... haha.
Well if your having to add fluid to it doesn't that mean its leaking? trans fluid isn't a consumable product it doesn't go away if theres not a leak so it stands to reason that there is a leak all the time doesn't it? Just sayin
I had this sort of problem once because the two trans lines were rubbing together in one spot and rubbed a hole in one of the lines. Got it fixed and added rubber hose between the lines to keep them apart and have never had a problem since. So check the lines to see if one has a small crack and the fluid is leaking back dripping off the trans.

So if you fill it to "full" it quits leaking? Problem solved!
My yellow truck came with an ATF cooler up front, and was leaking from the connectors. Unfortunately, there was so much grime on the connectors that you rarely saw a drip. Clean everything up and look again...
