was junkyard shopping for little peices for my rig the other day and ran accross a 85 ford f350 forestry dept truck....hiding under the front was a dana 60 kingpin with matching 10 1/4 sterling 4.10 limited slip rear...heres the part that'll blow your mind i bought both for 350 bucks....JACKPOT....

now to make them fit my 79 f250....

any ideas or pointers would be great..

the leaf pads are differant spacing and the steering is differant...

Sweet.

Contact Currie, A&A, Blue Torch Fabrication, or Ballistic Fabrication for brackets. Then whip out the torch or plasma and start cutting and welding.

I wouldda grabbed the driveshafts for the yokes.

Relocating the spring perches alone is not enough, you'll also have to relocate your springs outboard of the frame to make this D60 work, otherwise the DS spring will land right on the differential itself...

it's not an impossible feat, but a lot of fabrication, that's one big reason why the '80 up D60's are far more cheaper when compared to their 78/79 brethren, which are direct bolt-in axles.

well you guys are right as always..
had a buddy come by and look at the setup..he runs a fab shop.
we've decided to just move the leaf springs outboard some to fit the new axle.. a new front crossmember type leaf hanger in front and custom shackle hangers in the rear... that'll also give me some extra lift and allow me to pull one leaf out of my pack for a better ride currently has a 5pc setup ..going with a custom dual shock over axle setup and a slightly longer tahn stock shackle for more flex... this also allows me to remove that stupib body lift or at least alot of it..the rear is already in the truck and i will still have to consider how to correct the lift differace front to back..(thinking shackle flip and shorter blocks, currently has add a leaf and 6" blocks) as for steering we fitted a old bronco drop arm i had on my box and decided we nedded to reclock the box forward 30 degrees and stretch the steeering arm to meet it... but on the down side my favorite truck sat on the sidelines to long and now needs a new heart,, myold mercury 460 is froze solid...thats ok i have a 77 lincoln on a stand, needs rebuilt, 70 dove heads, lunati thumper cam, 70 429 chain and gears, and an edelbrock rpm manifold. guess its time for an overhaul.. plus i'm headed back to the wreckin yard for the front drive line, rear one was bent when i pulled axle..
