I am putting rings on a351 w engine. I know the oil rings but i need help with the top and middle rings. one ring looks plain with no bevels the other has a bevel. I know the bevel faces up to the top of the piston but does it go in the top or middle groove?

I would look up the manufactures site and go from there . What brand do you have ?
There are no directions. This engine was rebuilt 6 years ago. Engine is in a 1982 Bronco that was never ran after the rebuild.
My son got it last year and the engine was locked up. We tore it down last summer and I forgot the order that I took the rings off.I am pretty sure that the beveled ring goes in the top groove and the plain ring in the middle.
Just thought there might be a engine rebuilder in this forum that would know.

Hasting site ,
Some top rings are flat or beveled and some second rings are flat or beveled , so the beveled could be the top or second ring . Dots go up but 1st or 2nd ring I don't know .
