Spin that puppy around so we can see the radiator hose outlet(s). If is has one or two, I agree with shoo. Two: 1942/47 Ford V8 / One: 1942/47 Ford I-6.

I just bought a '56 F100 and this was in the barn with it. I asked the seller if I could have it, and he said I could. Is it worth anything? (if not reconditioned)

I paid him, but I'm going to pick up the truck next week. I have my last final on Monday...and I don't need any more distractions from my studies!

Schuyles,
I'm sure it's worth bring home, since it's free. I'd wash the dirt out & off of it and let it dry. Then weigh it. I'm assuming the top and bottom tanks are brass? If in doubt, give it a slight scratch and see if it is shiny brass color.

Then I'd stand it up and seal off the lower hose bung with some duct tape or such. Once sealed off, fill it with water and see if/where it leaks (w/o pressure).

Then once you've determined what it fits, then you can advertise it 'as is' and if it has obvious major repair work needed or not.

If you get no action on selling it you can always take it to the scrap metal yard and sell it for scrap brass...... Depending on the going rate for brass that day, so much $ /per pound, you may be able to turn it into $30 or more....

If you scrap it get the copper price by cuttin the brass end caps off because the fins are most likely copper which is around 3.30/lb and brass is under 2.00/lb!

Its not really a hobby. Its what I did for 30+ years working on agricultural equipment. I bought my houses, raised my children and funded my hobbies. I still do some ag work now and then.

Well, I was kind of waiting till I got it in a more respectful state...but I guess I'll share!

I picked up my dream truck. It's gonna be a long term project, but I couldn't pass up this "barn find." I wanted something as close to original as I could get...so I can actually build it the way I want to.

It's in pretty good shape, rear cab corners aren't perfect. Driver's side is the worst. But honestly, it's in really good shape. Didn't get the front sheet metal...but I guess I'll just be patient and pick it up as I go!
