Hello, I have a 2002 F250 5.4 V8 auto. The engine was just swapped out with a 2006 Ford van, I was cleaning out the engine compartment and just found this part plugged in sitting right on top of the wire harness on the driver side with nothing but the plug connected to it. Does anyone know the function of this part and what hoses connect to it? The part number on it is: Ford F75E-9F945-CB, 2F31A7.
All I can tell you about the one in the picture is that I had problems with it, I would put it back in, it would blow back out, plug the hole in the canister where it goes, your engine will die, there is a really fine mesh screen in the part shown if you take it apart, it is a dealer only part about $100, but after doing tons of things to my engine last year, the part shown being the last replacement, it runs like a top now.
My theory: IS VERY COMPLEX, but the wires connected to it go back to the PCM and that purge solenoid definitely is important but overlooked by everyone except for the stealership since it is a dealer only part.
Okay know I see what you're talking about. Question is now...where does the outlet on the solenoid lead to? it looks like someone deleted the vacuum line on the solenoid.

No vacuum lines attached, it has a valve at the exit with a very fine mesh screen inside if you take it apart, I didn't try it but you may be able to blow it out with an air hose (I'm guessing this is what you're looking at thinking there is a tube attached)
