can anybody tell me how to adjust the kick down on a 86 with a 3 speed c6. i bought this truck a few weeks and have been drivin it instead of my other 86 to try and keep the miles off it. got 12 grand in that other truck and dont even hardly drive it now lol funny how that works. but if i start to pull a little hill at 55 and step in it a little bit it kicks down but it dont need to. when it kicks down at 55 it is pretty much wrapped out. i unhooked the kick down linkage but that didnt do nothin. it still does it. its drives me nuts.
the kickdown system is a combination of the vacuum system and the mechanical bar that goes down by the shifter. on the throttle shaft, there is a vacuum regulator valve (VRV) that controls the vacuum side the the tranny. try turning it back a little to reduce how sensitive it is.
for the mechanical linkage, i don't remember if the c6 defaults to the idle position or the WOT position, so i can't be of any definitive help on that side
It has 2 vac lines running to it and is bolted to the drivers side of the ip. Loosen the screws and tip it a little bit to the front of the truck til you get it where you like it.
ok thanks will do it sometime tomorrow. and also i was wantin to turn up my ip a little but nothin stupid like my other truck is i got other 86 turned up 6 flats but i got all sorts of motor work done to it i got gauges in it. i dont have an egt put in this truck yet and dont really have time to do it right now. i was wantin to turn this automatic up 2 or 3 flats would you think it would be alright with out an egt gauge.
