My understanding is that the 48 – 60 Steering wheels will interchange? I want to put a 53 or a 56 type on my stock 1952 column as I just think they look better to me. Are the diameters different?
I know the 56 is a dished wheel. Wondering if one may be a little smaller as i am 6' 2" and the stock 52 wheel works just fine, it just misses my beer belly by one inch or so.....LOL
Yes they all go on, UP to F600. A while back on my 1950 I put on a dished
3 spoke from the 70s while I intend to paint the origional which I still have
not done. The only thing with the dish is you will lose the horn. I like the
dish. Although 53-56 will work with horn I dont remember when they went
to the slip ring for the horn.

It is my understanding that you can put a steering wheel up to 1957 (truck only) on your 52 but not beyond 57. Don't know about the diameter difference.
When I got my truck it had a car steering wheel on it. I'd guess mid-fifties two spoke. Seemed to fit fine, it was just in really bad shape so I tossed it.
edit: here's a pic of it, and now that I think of it, it had an extra washer under the hub
